System Requirements

To install and run PDF Viewer Plus as a component of PaperPort 12, your Windows-compatible PC must meet or exceed the following requirements:

A computer with an Intel^® Pentium^® or newer processor
Microsoft Windows XP SP3 or above, Windows Vista SP2 or above, Windows 7

Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 or above
512 MB of memory (RAM), 1GB recommended
500 MB of free hard disk space for application files plus 20 MB working space during installation
SVGA monitor with 256 colors, but preferably 16-bit color (called Medium Color in XP and Vista) and at least 800 x 600 pixel resolutions
Sound card is optionally required for using the functionality of the supplied Text-To-Speech Engine
Windows-compatible pointing device
CD-ROM drive for installation
Web access needed for product registration, activation and obtaining live updates for PaperPort.

Note: Performance and speed will be enhanced if your computer’s processor, memory, and available disk space exceed minimum requirements. Hyper-thread enabled or multi-processor systems can deliver better performance.

General Application Notes

Document Management System (DMS) support in the Professional version (comes with PDF Create)

Hummingbird Enterprise™ 2004 and 2005
PDF Viewer Plus supports Hummingbird Enterprise systems if a DM Extensions API is installed and configured on the client machine. The product is also integrated into Windows Explorer DM Extension.
Interwoven^® WorkSite 7.5.1 and 8.2 with SP2
PDF Viewer Plus supports Interwoven WorkSite systems if DeskSite 6.6 for WorkSite 7.5.1 or DeskSite 8.2 for WorkSite 8.2 is installed and configured on the client machine. The product is also integrated into DeskSite clients.

Hummingbird^® DOCSOpen^® 4.0
Refer to the DOCSOpen installation guide to perform the client installation. When this is done, the program will be able to connect to the server.
Livelink^® ECM - Enterprise Server 9.7.0. from OpenText Corp.
PDF Viewer Plus supports LiveLink ECM if LiveLink Explorer Professional Windows Client is installed and configured on the client machine.

General Technical Notes

· Coexistence with PDF Create

If PDF Create! 5.2 or a prior version is installed on the machine, the PDF Viewer Plus with PaperPort Professional 12 upgrades the existing PDF Create.

If you uninstall standalone PDF Create from a computer having PDF Viewer Plus, after un-installation the PDF Viewer Plus UI changes and PDF Viewer Plus creates a watermark when editing a PDF document. To restore its original state it has to be repaired using Control Panel-Add/Remove Programs or a system reboot is required. After reboot, a running component of the product detects the corruption of the file set automatically and restores the original state. This operation requires administrator privileges.

Installing PDF Create

If you try to install PDF Create on a machine where PDF Viewer Plus is installed, the product installer detects the presence of PDF Viewer Plus and wants to remove PDF Viewer Plus before installing PDF Create. To install PDF Create after PDF Viewer Plus you must remove PDF Viewer first, install PDF Create and then re-install PDF Viewer Plus.

Installation of the Hummingbird DM Extension and Interwoven DeskSite add-ons (available for the Enterprise only)

The product installer detects the presence of the client software of these DM systems and registers add-ons for them providing PDF document related features. If the DMS client components are not installed in advance, the registration of the add-ons is skipped by the product installer.

Language setting

The language setting for both PDF Viewer Plus and PDF Create are chosen at installation time. They must be in synch. If they are not, you must uninstall and re-install one of the products.
